The City is truly a great place to live, raise a family, work and play.

Winter Parking Restrictions Start November 15

The Dodgeville Police Department reminds all motorists that special restrictions are necessary to facilitate the removal of snow.  The alternate side parking restriction applies to all streets in the city, except where otherwise restricted, such as "No Parking Any Time".  It also does not apply to the downtown area where there are signs posted “No Parking from 2a.m. – 6a.m.”  Per Ordinance 7.07(5), alternate side parking begins November 15th and ending April 1st, between the hours of 12:01a.m. and 7:30a.m.  During this time, motorists must park on the side of the street with houses that end in an odd number on odd numbered calendar days and on the side of the street with houses that are even numbered on even numbered calendar days.  The easiest way to remember this is to always park your vehicle for the next day, as tickets are nor written until after12:01a.m.

The police and public works departments take several complaints every year from residents about having to park on one side of the street in warm weather or when there is no snow.  This ordinance is in effect to allow for the efficient removal of snow.  It allows residents to get into a routine of parking their cars, instead of trying to figure out if they will have a snow emergency day or not.  Please help keep our streets safe and our municipal budget in line by parking your cars and those of your guests, appropriately.

Earlier today, crews began opening all lanes of Hwy 151 between Hwy 18 and Hwy 23 as well as the Hwy 23 interchange.  Please be alert for crews in the area as they continue to remove traffic control devices from the site the remainder of the week.  We will be returning in the Spring for some finishing items along the highways.  The work operations in the Spring will require some short term lane and ramp closures.  We hope you enjoy a safe winter!
