City Recreation Programs

The Dodgeville Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for Dodgeville’s many parks and recreation activities for kids and adults alike. The departments function is to provide recreational programs to meet the needs of all persons. The parks are maintained through this department for your enjoyment of leisure time activities. All recreation programs are available to residents and non residents of Dodgeville and all individuals must register with the department for spring/summer programs prior to participating.

"Rec News"

  • There will be NO Winter Basketball Skills & Drills Program at DES Saturday, January 30th. The last day for winter basketball will be on Saturday, February 6th.
  • The "Lil' Dribblers" will be playing a 3-4 minute half-court basketball game during the half time portion of the varsity games. Please have your child wear the Park & Recreation t-shirt the night of the game. Tennis shoes are also suggested. Be at the High School gym by 7:20 and sit on the far side of the gym (stage side) typically where the student section sits on the Dodgeville side. At half time we will assist the kids on to the court and begin play. Parent assistance is welcome and may be needed. Click here for times and more information.
  • Applications are still being accepted for the Recreation Department winter programs and can be brought on the first day as well.
  • The Ice Wolves Youth Hockey Association’s public skating at Ley Pavilion, Dodgeville, will begin this weekend, November 21 and 22. This year, skating will be on Saturday evenings from 6:00-9:00 pm and Sunday afternoons from 2:30-5:30 pm. There will not be public skating on Friday nights. Admittance fees for each skate session will be $3.00 per Dodgeville City Resident; $4.00 per non-resident; kids 4 and under skate for free. There will also be a family price of $10.00 per family (parents and minor age children) and punch cards that will offer multiple skating sessions for reduced prices. Skate rental will be available for $2.00 per pair of skates. The Ice Wolves Youth Hockey Association will give to the City of Dodgeville money that is generated (up to $2,000) from public skate fees for their support of the Ley Pavilion Ice Rink.   • The Dodgeville Recreation Department has teamed up with Varsity Girls Head Coach, Josh Busch and Varsity Boys Head Coach, Ryan Bohnsack to present an improved winter basketball program. The Saturday morning Winter Basketball Skills & Drills Program for 2009-2010 begins December 5th. Completed registration forms must be turned in to City Hall by Wednesday, November 25, 2009.   • The first session of golf lessons begins Monday, June 15th at Dodge-Point Country Club. Click here for more information.
  • Little League (Ages 9 - 12) begins the week of June 9th at Wilson Park! Game days are Tuesdays at 1:00 PM and 2:45 PM, and Thursdays at 4:45 PM and 6:30 PM. Skills evaluation for all participants will be held on Thursday, June 11th from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM, and Friday, June 12th from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM
  • Minor League Baseball (Ages 9 & 10) begins June 12th at Wilson Park!! Games are Friday evenings at 6:00 PM. Please note the time and day change. (Please note the change in this program. If you are unable to participate due to the change, please contact the recreation department. We apologize for any inconvenience, but appreciate the volunteers who are now running the program!
  • Pitch & Hit begins Monday, June 15th! Times are 5:45 PM, 6:30 PM, and 7:15 PM. Program begins June 15th at Wilson Park. Refer to the link under "avaliable programs" for more information.
  • Tee-Ball (Ages 4, 5, & 6) begins June 10th and 13th!! 4 year old program is on Wednesdays from 5:15 PM - 5:45 PM. Ages 5 & 6 is Saturday mornings at 8:45 AM and 9:30 AM. There will be no games on July 4th or July 15th.

Code of Conduct for Youth Sports

Our mission is to develop our youth into productive and caring citizens while respecting the uniqueness of each individual. We will encourage all individuals to achieve their full potential. In providing this service to our youth, we hope they will enjoy the activities, gain knowledge that will be useful in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and develop a positive attitude towards others. Players are expected to show respect to their team members, coaches, other players, and game officials. Players may not make public displays of anger or disrespect during a game. Players are responsible for attending practices & games, and if unable to attend are asked to call their coach. Coaches have the right to have a player sit on the bench for any misconduct.

Registration Requirements and Fees

    City of Dodgeville Residents
    $10.00 per program per year—$50.00 maximum per family
    Outside City of Dodgeville but within Dodgeville School District
    $15.00 per program per year—$75.00 maximum per family
    Outside Dodgeville School District
    $30.00 per program per year—$150.00 maximum per family

    **These fees were instituted by City Council in May 1993 and updated for a second time in March 2003

Registration will be held at City Hall on Thursday, April 3rd & 17th from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. You may also mail-in (see address listed below) or drop off your completed registration form to City Hall (110 E Fountain St) during regular business hours, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. prior to the above date.
