Police Department Relationships
School Resource Officer
The City of Dodgeville, Dodgeville Police, and the Dodgeville School District jointly established the School Liaison Program.
We have a Community Resource Officer assigned primarily to the schools in a proactive approach to present educational programs on
a variety of topics to students, parent groups, school administrators, and teachers. In addition, the officer is involved in all
school related investigations of crimes related to juvenile victims as well as juvenile offenders. The officer also supervises
various school functions to be more involved in all activities as they relate to our youth. The goal of the liaison program is to
provide an environment that will provide structure and discipline without sending students through the court system.
Iowa County Emergency Response Team
The Dodgeville Police Department is a founding and current member agency of the Iowa County Emergency Response Team. The team
is made up of sheriff’s deputies and officers from local municipalities. It provides an added resource for the citizens of Dodgeville
to assist the current patrol staff. The team function is to provide tactics, equipment and training to its members in an effort to
control high risk situations. These situations could potentially include, high risk drug warrants, hostage situations and those
incidents were weapons may be involved. The cost of this program to the department is the assignment of officers as members.
Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force
The Dodgeville Police Department is a member agency of the Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force. The task force is primarily
made up of representatives of the three counties and representatives from the three largest agencies in those counties. The
task force is founded on the belief that effective narcotics enforcement is predicated on establishing viable lines of communication
and coordination of efforts among drug law enforcement entities. The membership is composed of those sworn law enforcement officers
whose primary responsibility is the enforcement of narcotics laws in the tri-county area. In addition to its drug enforcement activities,
the second priority of the task force is the education of the tri-county area on drug-related topics. Task force officers have spoken with
thousands of people since its inception about methamphetamine, ecstasy, club drugs, and other drugs.
