Police Department - Parking Information

2-Hour Parking Enforcement

The two-hour parking limit is in effect between the hours of 9 a.m. & 5 p.m. on Monday thru Saturday and until 9 p.m. on Friday evening. The downtown streets affected by this ordinance are Iowa Street between Diagonal and Fountain Streets. It also includes the first blocks both east and west of Iowa Street - downtown area.

Authority: Dodgeville City Ordinance 7.07(2)(b)

Alternate Side Parking Regulations

The Dodgeville Police Department will be enforcing Alternate Side Parking Regulations starting November 15 and ending on April 1. Residents are reminded to park their cars on the side of the street with even house numbers on even numbered days and odd house numbers on the odd numbered days. Parking tickets are not issued until after midnight, so you need to park your car on the correct side of the street for the following morning. There are several streets in town which were posted as “No Parking this side of Street”, during the summer. Residents should be aware that most of these signs are now removed to accommodate alternate side parking on those streets. Also, there is no overnight parking on many of the streets in the downtown area.

The police and public works departments take several complaints every year from residents about having to park on one side of the street in warm weather or when there is no snow. This ordinance is in effect to allow for the efficient removal of snow. It allows residents to get into a routine of parking their cars, instead of trying to figure out if they will have a snow emergency day or not. Please help keep our streets safe and our municipal budget in line by parking your cars and those of your guests, appropriately.
